new york is a shopper’s heaven

USA July 4th, 2008

My good friend is counting down to her trip to New York. I can’t imagine many places in the world that have quite the number of shopping options that are available to New Yorkers on a daily basis. It’s hard to imagine that there are people who actually have never felt the thrill of getting that little extra percent off or finding a perfectly good second hand piece for less than a quarter of what that item would have cost new. At the same time, there are very few things that I can mentally justify paying full price for.

Perhaps this is why New York represents shopper’s heaven to me. From travel commentaries, magazines and travel programs, I come to know that there are so many consignment stores, used clothes stores, vintage clothes stores, and the bargains don’t end at clothing. There is consignment furniture, house wares, health foods, even eca stack can be found at bargain prices in very specialized consignment and second hand stores. Electronics and appliances can be found in these types of stores as well. It’s truly amazing all the wonderful things that can be found at bargain basement prices by those who are truly willing to look for them.

san diego zoo in summer

USA, children, family travel June 18th, 2008

With most family traveling this summer, my cousin is planning to head down to San Diego since he’s also passing that way to explore a franchise business.

I heard that the San Diego Zoo, located in San Diego California is one of the best zoo’s in the United States. It is a must for all visitors to include the San Diego zoo into the itinerary - I wished I knew that earlier eight years ago when we were there!

The zoo is said to house nearly 4,000 animals. Also in the zoo, are the infamous pandas, one of the main reasons as to why the zoo is so popular. Among the many animals you’ll will also expect to see giraffes, tigers, and basically any other animal that you can think of. The animals themselves have plenty of room to run and play, giving you all the space you need to view them in their active environment and best of all - while they are at their best.

Anytime you plan to visit San Diego this summer, you should make sure you visit the zoo. Kids simply adore the animals here, while parents find them adorable. Even if you have never been to a zoo before, the San Diego Zoo can more than change your outlook.

MGM Studio park or Universal Studios

USA May 30th, 2008

I was told that if you are planning for your Orlando vacations, you probably have a trip to Universal Studios on your list, thus, you may decide to skip MGM Studios. However you may find that – especially if you have younger children – MGM is a better alternative as there are less attractions with height restrictions than Universal. Although there are a few more thrill-seeking rides, most of the MGM Studio park is at a more gentle pace making it a good destination for families, or those who are a little mobility impaired. With that in mind, you may still like to make a trip to Universal Studios if you can decide on which is best for the family :)

as summer draws near, Las Vegas travel is a popular activity for families and groups. Most people love to hang around the vibrant city for a time of fun and relaxation. The hotels will be packed with locals and tourists from all over the world and you can expect air tickets to be dearer than the other months. Be prepared to pay a little more for summer accommodation and air travels and to beat the queue to amusement parks, theme parks and dinner shows. Don’t forget to check out the last minute accommodation sites for some great deals and if you are considering car rental, make sure you place your reservations early too!

moving to New York City

USA April 26th, 2008

My friend Jean has just got in touch with a mover NYC after learning that she will be moving there for a job relocation. Do you know that New York City is in fact the greenest city in America? Of nearly 200,000 total acres, more than 50,000 of those acres are of park or open space. While Central Park is the most famous of green spaces in New York City it is only number five of the top 10 largest parks in the city. Read the rest of this entry »

la jolla for a break

USA April 24th, 2008

When my friend’s boyfriend completed his treatment at the alcohol rehab, the first thing they did was to take a short trip to the La Jolla beach. You could easily spend a week in La Jolla, walking on the beach, puttering around town and enjoying meals in great restaurants; but if you only have one day, you can still enjoy some of the best La Jolla has to offer.

You’ll want to start off by going to the beach. La Jolla Shores is one of the best beaches in the state of California, with a gently sloping beach and panoramic views. A sunset or morning walk on the beach is enough to relax even the most stressed individual. The walk is better with the tide going out, as it leaves the beach with a mirror like water display. I suppose that’s a great way for them to relax and put the unhappy past behind them…

save money on vegas accommodations

USA, accommodation April 3rd, 2008

If you have visited Vegas of late, you would have noticed the fierce competition among hotels and this is definitely good news to some extent for you as a traveler. The tightness of the competition keeps the prices relatively affordable and allows you to pick and choose which hotel you want according to the services, loaction and amenities rather than the prices of the rooms. It is wise to compare prices and competing hotels before booking your Las Vegas Hotels for your next vacation. Seasoned travelers will find that saving money on accommodation is a great idea in Vegas cos the more money you save on hotel accommodations, the more money you’ll have to spend on dining, shopping and the entertainment of your choice.

things to do in busy NY

USA April 2nd, 2008

Speak to a business traveler and he will tell you that New York City is perhaps the busiest city in the world. The people here are always running to and fro from work to home to meeting to school functions for their children to dinner you name it and most people in this city are constantly on the move. New Yorkers work hard and they play hard and for the most part you will not find a city full of couch potatoes, which is a good thing! Read the rest of this entry »

travel to palm beach florida

USA, accommodation, family travel March 21st, 2008

When traveling to sunny Palm Beach Florida, you may want to consider the Breakers Hotel as it seems to be a great accommodation spot for travelers. Besides the spa, golf course, and a 1/2 mile sandy beach, there is also a separate pool for the kids, a family entertainment center, and a kid’s program. Families can reserve up to five adjoining rooms while children under the age of 16 can stay for free in the same room as their parents. The fitness freaks can sweat it out on the elliptical machines while the ones who long for some pampering can head for the spa. Also, if you decide to take your beach vacation in Orlando, the Loews Hard Rock Hotel offers you plenty of beach and amusement rides, with a 240 foot slide and a white sandy beach.
