Honeymoons are a time to remember! Memories are created that last a lifetime and can be cherished by the entire family. Listen to older people, such as the grandparents and see what they have to say on their honeymoon. Some of the stories are quite exciting and humorous. I once heard an elderly couple who went hunting for tattoo designs on their 50th honeymoon!

Your honeymoon will be unique no matter where you both go. Only the two of you will be actively participating unless you have children. Taking children on your honeymoon, does sound a bit unusual and is actually quite common.

eating out with children 0

Posted on October 20, 2007 by dorisch

Eating out when traveling with children can be an experience. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but always interesting. If you plan carefully, your family can have a pleasant dining experience without ruining the wait staff’s day.

First, try to plan restaurant visits during less busy times. Waiting in long lines for a table, slow service and harried wait staff do not make for a pleasant meal for anyone. Small children get bored easily and a bored, hungry child is an unhappy child.

entertain your kids with a portable DVD player 0

Posted on October 19, 2007 by dorisch

Planning on a weekend trip with the family? Long rides aboard buses or trains with children can be especially challenging. Even the best behaved children will struggle with the monotony of being trapped in the same rail car or uncomfortable bus seat for hours. The simplest solution is to schedule the trip during the night, allowing the children to sleep during the trip; but that’s not always an option. It is always wise for parents to think ahead and be better prepared to deal with the challenges.

Thank God for technology. These days, the price of a high quality portable DVD player has dropped considerably. Mini CD players and hand-held video games will provide at least a few hours of entertainment for the kids (and peace and quiet for the parents). However, for those children too young for the gadgets, and for all children when the gadgets get boring or the batteries die, make sure to have other things on hand. But with a portable 10 inch DVD player, the 4-hours long lithium battery should do the job, otherwise, plug it into your cigarette lighter in the car. Nothing is more stressful than to be traveling with restless and tired kids so always get ready some good entertainment. Put in their favourite DVD or VCD and you are ready to go!

When taking an infant along on a road trip, there are many things to consider. The most important thing here is to be prepared. Prepared parents will have a smoother trip, and a much happier baby.

First off, try to plan the trip during baby’s normal nap time. If you’re lucky, your little bundle will peacefully sleep the trip away and arrive at Grandma’s well rested and ready to play. Read the rest of this entry →

Since Barbados is a tropical country, it would help if the tourists would bring with them clothes that would fit for the tropical climate. Light clothing material like cotton works best in a sunny-filled days in Barbados. Thin formal wear like jacket will always suit up for a very special occasion. setting goals before you travel 1

Posted on October 01, 2007 by dorisch

“The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don’t define them, learn about them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable.”  Denis Waitley

Like anything else in life, travel needs to be planned for somewhat. It is almost like setting a short-time ‘SMART’ goal for leisure and vacationing. Marketers of time-share and destination vacations, often refer to this as an argument to invest in a travel solution.

People often suggest that we treat travel or vacationing, like any other planned financial decision in life. This is all irrespective of whether this includes house, car, tuition, health, insurance or other life-expense.  Travel and vacation is justified and ‘sold’, as just another important item on the list to think about and budget for.

Setting goals is described and accepted as a powerful tool to achieve success and keeps people motivated.

key to budget travel 0

Posted on September 29, 2007 by dorisch

The key to budget travel is to plan ahead. When it comes to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new places we have never been before, the reality of cost and budgeting is always in the back of our minds.

Planning and spending our travel dollar wisely is a priority for most families. Curbing spending and costs, while still enjoying your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed success and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you!

The reasoning behind saving money while traveling is simple: Even if your personal budget is extremely tight, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead!

Also remembering that while traveling, whether on a budget or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a large vacation or travel bill!
