moving to New York City

USA April 26th, 2008

My friend Jean has just got in touch with a mover NYC after learning that she will be moving there for a job relocation. Do you know that New York City is in fact the greenest city in America? Of nearly 200,000 total acres, more than 50,000 of those acres are of park or open space. While Central Park is the most famous of green spaces in New York City it is only number five of the top 10 largest parks in the city. Read the rest of this entry »

when emergency strikes

miscellaneous April 25th, 2008

I know it may sound paranoid to mention this but if you believe in travel and medical insurance matters, then you should also consider getting a medical bracelet. Basically, a medical bracelet contains all your personal particulars which may come in handy during emergencies. You never know how much these personal info can mean when something unfortunate happens. You can list down your blood type, important contact and personal ID so that the medical professionals can get accessed to your health data as quickly as possible.

holiday apartments in Sydney

I know of a friend who used to travel to Sydney just for her acne treatments and cosmetic surgeries. While she travels short term to this beautiful city, she tends to pick holiday apartments instead of staying in the usual hotels. According to her, the Sydney holiday rentals present a better value than hotels, plus she can avoid the touristy ambience in the city. Since I’m hunting for a nice place to enjoy Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks, I’ve been checking out the holiday rental options at Rent A Home which helps travelers and holiday makers to save with Hot Deals on unique Holiday Homes or Serviced Apartments across Australia. You can pick an apartment in the heart of the city, at the edge of the city, the North Shore, a studio apartment or a three bedroom. The choice is all yours. Most importantly, the prices are cheaper than the five star hotels while presenting five star facilities. I definitely need an apartment with a view of the harbour bridge for the New Year’s eve fireworks!

I don’t know about you but if there is one thing I can’t leave without when I’m traveling on business or leisure, it has to be my credit card (besides my passport, of course). In this day and age, who can travel without a valid credit card for convenience and flexibility, no wonder there are more travel related cards being launched in the marketplace including Airline Credit Cards, Miles reward cards and Best Hotel Credit Cards. All these credit cards are designed with the global travelers in mind, offering you the best perks and benefits that help you stretch your money.Yet, shopping for a credit card can be a hassle if you don’t know where to begin. As such, sites like Credit Break is launched to help you search for your desired card with the most attractive benefits and rewards. Isn’t it great to save up your reward points and convert them to air miles for your next vacation with your buddies in the Caribbean islands or Cancun Mexico? I suppose this is what it means by ‘killing two birds with one stone’ - just because you take the effort to choose wisely.

la jolla for a break

USA April 24th, 2008

When my friend’s boyfriend completed his treatment at the alcohol rehab, the first thing they did was to take a short trip to the La Jolla beach. You could easily spend a week in La Jolla, walking on the beach, puttering around town and enjoying meals in great restaurants; but if you only have one day, you can still enjoy some of the best La Jolla has to offer.

You’ll want to start off by going to the beach. La Jolla Shores is one of the best beaches in the state of California, with a gently sloping beach and panoramic views. A sunset or morning walk on the beach is enough to relax even the most stressed individual. The walk is better with the tide going out, as it leaves the beach with a mirror like water display. I suppose that’s a great way for them to relax and put the unhappy past behind them…

Not only is online accommodation reservations so convenient and easy these days, you can even buy a travel insurance before you leave for your vacation. Shopping for a luggage also means you don’t need to handle the bulky luggage in the mall and what more, you can book your airline ticket online too. Many people have familiarize themselves with online banking, auto insurance online and online bills payment. When we were traveling to NZ and Australia, we booked our activities online weeks before our arrival. This helps to save quite a bit in telecommunication and avoid the hassle of having to buy tickets at the destination spot. Are you an online traveler?

how to travel in one bag

travel tips April 18th, 2008

Few days ago, my business associate’s hairspray was ditched at the airport customs checkpoint when she forgot that hairspray or aerosol products were not allowed in hand carry bags.

In this age of airline fare wars, traveling across multiple borders is increasingly common. Many business travelers have the habit of traveling in one bag for fast clearance and saving time on baggage claims. Here are some steps from WikiHow that suggests how you can travel in one bag: Read the rest of this entry »

what do you travel for?

miscellaneous April 16th, 2008

Different people travel for various purposes. For many, it would be just a vacation to relax and recharge after a time of busyness and stress. Some ladies I know travel in luxury for shopping and indulgence, spending their retirement years in the best ways they can afford. I was told by my aunty that her girlfriend would travel to shop for the best in everything including finding the best wrinkle cream to combat her laughing lines and crow’s feet. If I tell hubby this, he would probably frown in disbelief but well, that’s what people truly do. You don’t even need to be Jennifer Lopez or Britney Spears to do that anymore. Luxury and pleasure travel is everywhere now. What do you travel for?

you don’t need to be jennifer lopez to enjoy hawaii

hawaii April 10th, 2008

The chance to vacation in Hawaii is a rare opportunity for some people unless you are Jennifer Lopez or Angelina Jolie but I’m so thankful that I had the chance to do that last December. Nearly everyone daydreams about feeling the sand between their toes while sipping on a pina-colada. Well, we didn’t have pina colada but we did had a great time under the coconut trees - just like what you saw in the movies! So, if given the chance to visit Hawaii, it’s not likely one would pass it up.
